Nostradamus, Latinized for Michel de Nostredame, also known as Michel de Notre Dame (born on December 14, 1503, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Provence; died on July 2, 1566, in Salon-de-Provence), was a French apothecary who practiced as a physician and astrologer. Even during his lifetime, he gained fame for his prophetic poems, which consisted of groups of one hundred four-line verses (quatrains) known as the Centuries.
